Set up your spreadsheet properly to make sure Glide recognizes the data.
In our Bootcamp, you will use Glide as one of the tools to create your business and app idea. Glide is a platform that allows you to create apps using spreadsheets as your database, so preparing and connecting your database to your app is one of the first things you'll do.
Create your spreadsheet
Glide will connect to a Google spreadsheet document, so you'll have to use that as your spreadsheet app. You should have a basic spreadsheet that contains all the data of your app.
💡 If you use chrome, you can type sheet.new in your address bar to create a brand new spreadsheet.
Remember, in your spreadsheet, the first row should be column names. Glide will use the first row to understand what that column is about. After the first row, you can then have the values according to each column in your sheet.
🚦 If your app shows location, email, and name, your spreadsheet should have these columns. The data you want to handle in your app is the data you should have in the spreadsheet.
Connecting your spreadsheet to Glide
After creating your spreadsheet, go to Glide, click on "new app", and then select the google sheet you have created. From that, Glide will create a default app as a basic starting point. Simple no?
Remember: We'll have weekly Glide sessions in the Bootcamp
